Bored of the default icons on your Mac? There is an easy way out – LiteIcon, its a breeze installing kick-ass icons that are out there for FREE for the wonderful world of Apple Mac OS X! Lets install it!!
Go to the LiteIcon website and download the version most suitable for your OS X – Tiger or Leopard (Snow Leopard too!).
The DMG self opens and you get a nice little screen to drag and drop the app into the Applications folder.
Opening the application shows you the current icons being used by the OS and you can drag drop any picture image into these icon boxes and replace them!
Better way to get nice icons is to go to this post by Silversurfer (Best free high quality icon sets to customize your Mac) to find out the best out there. The icon sets are available as iContainers and you can import these iContainers using LiteIcon!
Browse to the location of your chosen icon set and OPEN
The icon set will be loaded and here you can see and edit every icon. Click on Apply changes and reboot.
If after you’ve changed all the icons, you want to return some of them to the original ones, simply launch LiteIcon, right click and Restore
And if you want to restore all icons to the original ones, got to LiteIcon –>File –> Restore all Icons...
