The super-secure it’s been hacked by security researchers.

One on Goggle’s operating system selling point, was the ‘much better’ built-in security: two security researchers told the crowd and demonstrated live during the Black Hat security conference on Wednesday, that with web-based hacker tricks they were able to exploit the security of Chrome OS.GoogleChromeBook

The new OS, powering the recently launched Chromebooks, was allowing full access to user’s emails, Docs, contacts and Google voice messages, after being hacked.

The two security experts said to have spent months doing research on Chrome OS.

The experts are urging Google to patch the variety of flaws that could otherwise allow hackers to access data on users’ Chromebooks.

A Google spokesman said, “This conversation is about the web, not Chrome OS. Chromebooks raise security protections on computing hardware to new levels. They are also better equipped to handle the web attacks that can affect browsers on any computing device, thanks in part to a carefully designed extensions model and the advanced security available through Chrome that many users and experts have embraced.”

The problem is that with Chromebooks, data is stored in the cloud and not on the device and these data are accessible by . Therefore, attacking the browser with something like cross-site scripting or cross-site requests, hackers can bypass Chrome OS’s security protection.

Chrome OS is not the only OS that is vulnerable to such attacks, but an underlying weakness remain.
