Another week is gone, some thousands of applications made it to the App Store…but not all of them are really worth the asking price.

This week’s ‘Application of the Week‘ is Jetpack Joyride, hands down the best game I’ve seen in a while.

Jetpack Joyride comes from the same creator of Friut Ninja and it’s a real pleasure to play this game; in my opinion this is one of the top 5 games of 2011.

Your character, Barry Steakfries, has an experimental jetpack strapped on his back and is trying to escape through a lab being careful of not blowing himself up.

Inevitably Barry will encounter obstacles like being hit by zappers, missiles and lasers but you’ll also collect powerups, spin tokens and coins that will tweak the gameplay.

According to my 35 years of gaming, everything is perfect in this extremely well polished and beautifully animated game that is compatible with iPad, iPod touch and iPhone.

Without any hesitation, fork out the $0.99 for the game. You won’t regret it.
