A product advertisement on the U.K. carrier Vodafone’s website implies that the Apple next-generation iPhone 5 will be available in black and white, and will offer the same 16GB and 32GB sizes around for years.
The Vodafone Sure Signal, which operates as a signal booster for the carrier’s network, shows a list phones on its product page that it’s compatible with. Among those, the four “iPhone 5” models listed show capacities of 16GB and 32GB and come in black and white.
There’s always the chance someone just made a mistake when they were putting the ad up. There’s also the possibility someone at Vodafone simply made a bad assumption. Nonetheless, it also additionally lists the iPhone 4, the iPhone 3GS, and even the iPhone 3G released back in 2008.
If the listed information on the next-generation iPhone is accurate, it would mean Apple’s upcoming offering would not come in a 64GB capacity model. The iPod Touch and iPad both have higher-end models available with 64GB of flash storage, while the iPhone’s highest capacity model is still stuck at 32GB.
The listing also suggests Apple will offer a white version of the iPhone 5 come launch time. Apple had difficulties with paint mixtures when assembling the white iPhone 4, resulting in its launch being delayed 10 months past its originally scheduled June 2010 release.
Though the colors and capacities on Vodafone’s listing would be the same as is currently available in the iPhone 4, the next-generation handset is expected to be equipped with an 8-megapixel camera providing photos at higher resolutions. It’s also likely then new handset will have the same custom-built A5 processor as the iPad 2 does.
It’s highly expected Apple will have a press event in the next few weeks in order to debut its next-generation iPhone. There are lots rumors circulating too, suggesting Apple’s fifth-generation iPhone will go sale in October.
