We posted earlier this month about a beer app called Brewski Me. Looks like another one has shown up now, and it’s obvious where our interests mainly lie. Untappd is a social network for us beer lovers, and now they have a free app available for download in both and iOS versions. Basically, Untappd is a social network for beer lovers, which has a searchable database of beers. You can give each beer you try a rating, add comments, and even upload photos of your favorite brands. You’ll get recommendations from the service for similar beers which our chosen based on your particular rankings, and your reviews will be shared with your contacts.

The service provides a stream of ratings similar to along with a location check-in feature which shows submitted beer ratings from your location. Though the central focus of the app is to give you somewhere to keep a record of which brews are your favorites and any you’re looking for in particular, it also includes some features borrowed from other social networks, like being able to unlock badges as you go about rating beers and check-in at bars.

Untappd may be just what you’re looking for if you’re a fan of the small, independent brewers springing up all over the place, and especially if you’re tired of having your cell phone filled up with beer label photos.
