Apple in the UK has introduced the new microUSB-to-dock connector, in order to comply with EU regulations that mandate a standard phone charger for all handsets sold in Europe.
Apple’s new dock adapter looks like the usual 30-pin dock connector but instead of the cable it has a micro USB port.
The adapter will work with any micro USB cable that can connect to a computer or charger via USB 2.0.
At this stage it is unclear whether Apple will offer the adapter ousted Europe.
Thanks to this connector, any Apple handset device will be chargeable by any cell phone charger and the good thing is that from now on users will not have a drawer full of different chargers belonging to long-lost/broken/unused devices because the chargers will be adaptable to the new handsets.
The new neat adapter is available only through the UK Apple website for £8 ($12).
