Do you remember the crazy HP TouchPad FireSale at the beginning of September that saw the tablets 16GB and 32GB getting sold for $99 and $149?
Well guess what…Best Buy will stock again the TouchPad beginning on November 1.
Don’t get too excited though because this time there’s a catch: the 32GB model will be sold only to those who will buy a Compaq laptop computer at the same time. The 16GB model is sold out and will not be available.
Estimates are putting the number of TouchPads to sell between 100 to 200,000 units, but at this stage is unclear if Best Buy will be getting all of them.
Best Buy also said that the deal is on a first-come, first-serve basis and about one hour before your local BB store opens, employees will be handing out tickets for the HP TouchPad. One hour after opening, any unclaimed, ticketed TouchPads will be released to those in line without a ticket.
If you are thinking of purchasing the laptop with the TouchPad and returning the laptop while keeping the tablet, then think again because Best Buy will charge you $600 for the tablet.
If you are not planning on buying a laptop, you may want to wait and see if other stores are getting the tablets. Personally I think that because of the laptop catch, there will not be a mad stampede for the tablets.
