According to the Taiwanese Digitimes, Apple will “completely overhaul” the iPad, iMac, iPhone and MacBook Air lines during the course of 2012.
Apple plans to completely overhaul its product lineups, including iPad, iMac, iPhone and MacBook Air, in 2012 and is expected to finalize order volumes for key parts and components for the next-generation iPad in December, according to sources in the upstream supply chain.
This could well be since in 2011 we didn’t see any re-design.
Since its introduction, the iPad has seen two redesigns and according to another report from the same publication, Apple will launch an upgraded iPad 2 in March 2012 but the completely redesigned iPad 3 will only launch during the 3rd quarter 2012.
The iPhone 4S has also been an upgrade from the earlier iPhone 4, same thing that happened with iPhone 3 and 3GS, and the thinner teardrop shaped device that Steve Jobs has worked on and we were expecting this year, will certainly come in 2012.
The iMac design has been pretty much unchanged for a few years and it would be nice to have a new external design.
Coming to the MacBook Air line, rumors are that Apple will redesign the MacBook Pro line next year and it will allegedly take an Air-like look. Public opinion is that Apple will eventually merge the Air and Pro lines into one and if this proves to be true, next year could be the right time since the Air design has also been unchanged for a several years.
