Free Applications

Lion Designer is a great free application for OS X Lion users that will let you change with just a couple of clicks the background images of your Dashboard, Mission Control, Launchpad and more.

If you want to easily customize the look of your OS X Lion, this app is what you need. Without the help of this app, changing the different backgrounds will be a ‘mission’. You would have to fiddle around with the configuration files of every utility, replace the default images in the Resource folder with your chosen images.

With Lion Designer it couldn’t be easier, and you can set a different background for your Login Screen, Launchpad folder and folder icon, Dashboard and Mission Control backgrounds.

Once you’ve downloaded and installed the app, launch it and you’ll see a window like the one below. The interface will show the current backgrounds with the option to change them.

Select change, navigate to the chosen background image and hit apply. Enter your password and you are good to go.

Also, at the bottom of the screen there’s a more features option that will give you the option to show or hide the Library folder as well as the Desktop icons.lion-designer

Very simple and useful application, highly recommended.
