As you know Apple’s own version of Skype, FaceTime, only works between Apple devices and also only works over a Wi-Fi network.
We’ve been patiently waiting for Apple to support the app over the 3G networks, but thus far hasn’t happened.
The guys from OSX Daily though, said to have that allows to initiate FaceTime video chats over 3G, without the need of a jailbroken device.
To do that, you need and iPhone with iOS 5.x and another FaceTime capable device such as iPhone, iPod touch or iPad.
This is how to do it:
Go to your Settings > Personal Hotspot and turn it ON
Using the other device, connect to the Wi-Fi Personal Hotspot that you’ll find listed under the Wi-Fi Networks. Enter the password the your iPhone gives you, to initiate the connection.
Now you’ll be able to make video calls over 3G.
