We’ve told you before about the all-Italian Whited00r project, the custom firmware for older iPhone and iPod touch devices, that brings some of the most important features of iOS 4 and iOS 5 to iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G as well as iPod touch 1G and 2G.
Whited00r has released today its version 5.1 which is available for download from this link.
Whited00r is essentially an untethered, jailbroken, and unlocked version of iOS 3.1.3, but visually similar to Apple’s latest iOS 5.
You’ll have the Reminders app, the possibility to create folders, it includes Cydia, the latest Apple backgrounds, and even a Dropbox backup service similar to iCloud.
I’ve successfully used Whited00r on an iPhone 3G that was previously jailbroken and upgraded to iPad baseband. After an involuntary firmware upgrade, the iPhone was unusable. The only thug that worked was Whited00r. I highly recommend it.
Good work Matteo Morando!
To install Whited00r, follow the instructions from the Installation Guide page.
