I know how eagerly desirous you are to jailbreak your iPhone 4S or iPad 2…in that case there are some very good news…no, hasn’t been released yet…but the joint effort of the most popular jailbreakers, namely Saurik, MuscleNerd and the French pod2g, has finally paid off.
The team has finally resolved the sandbox issue thanks to Saurik’s effort who coded the sandbox on top of pod2g’s untethered exploit. In other words the A5 stable jailbreak is now a step closer because the team has successfully injected the untethered files to the iPhone 4S without the need of a developer account.
pod2g has denied releasing the untethered jailbreak to developers until official launch, to avoid Apple patching the exploit.
The next steps will be packing the exploit into redsn0w and possibly other jailbreaking tools and test its compatibility with Cydia before its release.
MuscleNerd said in a tweet that there’s still no ETA but it shouldn’t take too long.
If you have an iPhone 4, iPod touch (3rd or 4th generation) or iPad (1st generation) running on iOS 5.0.1, you can jailbreak untethered following this tutorial.
As usual, as soon as we hear more good (or bad) news, we’ll report back.
