UPDATE : HP has just revealed that due to popular demand, they’ll produce more TouchPads within the next few weeks. Price not confirmed. Read more.
Earlier on Tuesday, the HP blogsite, the nextbench, posted some updated news about the TouchPad situation.
First of all, the HP site has pulled down the ‘notify me’ page, due to an overwhelming number of notification requests. Those who signed up will still receive an email as soon as the TouchPads, or detailed news on the matter, are available.
HP will have, within the next few days, more information available about the stock situation for the TouchPad.
It appears that some retailers that still have the tablet in stock, are selling them at an inflated price and not the $99 – $149 suggested by HP. The company says that each retailer manages its own policy and prices.
You must have noticed that when the TouchPads were largely available, some people bought a large amount of them and they are now reselling them on places like eBay and craigslist for a profit.
If more inventory is available in the future, HP will apply a limit order.
When the inventory situation is finalized, the TouchPad will be available again for Online Orders. Keep an eye on this page or on my post and I’ll inform you as soon as the tablets are available.
