Samsung on Wednesday told MarketWatch that the company has no intention of taking over Hewlett-Packard’s PC business.

Samsung Electronics said Wednesday that it has no intention of taking over Hewlett-Packard’s personal computer business.

The comment came amid market speculation that the South Korean electronics giant may buy H-P’s PC business after the U.S. firm last week unveiled plans to sell or spin off its personal-computer business.

This whole rumor started last week after HP’s announcement to get out of the hardware business and stir the company more towards the enterprise market. Soon after rumors started spreading.

Late last week HP also announced that the company was to cease its webOS development and begin a firesale via its retailing partners, in an attempt to clear the TouchPad and Pre 3 inventory.
Demand for the $99 TouchPad and $75 Pre 3 was so huge that burgeon hunters crashed retailer’s websites.
